The History of the Cascadia JCL
Formally known as the Washington-British Columbia Junior Classical League, our organization includes British Columbia in Canada, Washington State in the United States and Oregon in the United states. In 2018, we formally “rebanded” to include the ever growing nature of our organization.
Who Is the Cascadia JCL
Quite simply, we are you! Anyone who has an interest in the Classics and studies them through the education of Latin and Greek.
But no, who are we really?
The Cascadia JCL is more formally compromised of two parts. The first part is quite literally you. The students and sponsors that elect to become members of our State and Nationaal organization. Students comprise delegations belonging to chapters. Schools are our chapters. And we as the Cascadia JCL are a chapter to the National Junior Classical League.
The second part is compromised of unpaid adult volunteers who were you before they graduated from high school. They are not as Senior Classical League members. They are adults that still hold a passion for the classics and strive to pass on the torch of ancient civilization. These volunteers will most like reside within the defined geographic scope of the Casciadia JCL, but their JCL orgins can hale from coast to coast.
