If art is removed early from convention it will not be considered for Ars Anni. o Pieces that were disqualified during judging will not be eligible to participate in this competition.
More Infomation
We have based the current Graphic Arts Guidelines and Rules on the National JCL Guidelines, the contests are not the same; in most cases the National JCL Guidelines offer more. When preparing for National Convention please reference the current year’s National JCL Guidelines provided to you with your registration.
The judges retain the right to move projects to more appropriate categories and to combine age groups to allow for the most competitive and, therefore, fairest judging. If you have questions or concerns about the judging please speak with the Graphic Arts Chair at convention or speak with your sponsor after convention.
COPYRIGHT RULES
Nota bene: adherence to these rules is strict.
Do not use any copyrighted characters or ideas unless you submit a copy of written permission from the holder of the copyright as detailed below. If you use copyrighted material without permission, your project will be disqualified. This includes multimedia projects.
a. If the work or idea you want to use was first published after 1922, it is probably protected by copyright. You must obtain permission in writing and submit it with your project. b. Fair use is the right to use portions of copyrighted materials for purposes of education, commentary or parody. You may use or display digital images in connection with presentations. An educational multimedia presentation may include:
1) Up to 10% or 1,000 words, whichever is less, of a copyrighted text work, but no more than three poems by one poet, or five poems by different poets from any anthology.
2) Up to 10%, but no more than 30 seconds, of the music and lyrics from an individual musical work.
3) Up to 10% or three minutes, whichever is less, of a copyrighted motion media work (e.g. An animation, video or film image)
